Thuridilla lineolata (Bergh, 1905) [Elysia]
On a divesite called “Pier” at Siquijor Island was a large field of that algae, identified by Bill Rudman as Caulerpa racemosa (approx. 5 square meters) and I discovered first this egg mass (3), then I looked for its producer and found the Lobiger viridis (2). The other speciemen (1) was found during a nightdive (5) on a divesite called “Lighthouse” at Cabilao Island hidden in a different kind of algae.
There was no more power in the batteries of my camera so I piched up a branch of that algae and collected the sea-slug. To my surprise there were 2 specimens (4) in my vessel! I did the shot during the next dive at “Busstop”. When I disturbanced the larger animial it rapidly unrolled the parapodial tentacles to display bright colour patches.
A picture of this and more informations on Lobiger viridis are at Bill Rudman’s Sea-Slug Forum!
