Thorunna punicea is characterized by its pale purplish mantle with a thin opaque white marginal band. Distinctive are the rhinophores: The stalk is wine-red, the colour diffusing on the basal part of the club. The rest of the rhinophore club is yellow. The simple gills are translucent orange, basally wine-red.
