Glossodoris cincta is similar in colour and shape to Glossodoris hikuerensis which differs by wider bands at the mantle margin, which have different colours (pale tan and grey), and to Glossodoris cf. hikuerensis, which differs by a broad greyish marginal band, mottled with white.
The widespread Indo-West Pacific species Glossodoris cincta seems to have three regional colour forms. The Philippines - Indonesia colour variant has a narrow blue marginal band on the mantle, and the inner black and yellow lines tend to merge into a narrow dull khaki band.
