Spinophallus falciphallus has a distinctive colour pattern: the body is magenta with black margins and numerous yellow and orange spots. The hind end of the posterior shield is blut with a long rounded lobe. Most distinctive is the ventral surface of the foot with a midventral longitudinal maroon line and two additional more lateral lines that may be interrupted as maroon spots.
This species is as Philinopsis sp. 5 in IPN at page 42,
it was posted on 13 June 2004 at these website as Aglajidae sp. A Family: Pilsbry, 1895 (1847), on 16 July 2011 changed into
Aglajidae sp. 01 Family: Pilsbry, 1895 (1847), and on 16 January 2012 changed into Philinopsis falciphallus Gosliner, 2011.
Zamora-Silva & Malaquias (2017) moved it to new genus Spinophallus Zamora-Silva & Malaquias, 2017, which is invalid
because the name Spinophallus Zamora-Silva & Malaquias, 2017, it is a junior homonym of Spinophallus A. Riedel, 1962 [Gastropoda, Pristilomatidae]. The authors have been informed and they will propose a replacement name (pers. com. from M. Malaquias, Jan. 2018).
In spite of this is according to the rules the combination Spinophallus falciphallus valid!
