As these photos show, is Pleurobranchus forskalii very variable in colour. It ranges from pale brown with black rings, brownish with white rings, red with white rings, dark brown with white ornaments to complete red. Here are 2 specimens mating and here is its egg-mass.
The year of the publication of this species varies in some publications from 1828 to 1831, it is on the pages 18 - 20 in Rüppell & Leuckart (1828-1830), which were published in 1828. Reference:
