Nembrotha sp. 07 is chracterized by its blueish foot, and by the brownish mantle with red spots, The gills are reddish-brown with a bluish tinge, with a large white patch basally. The rhinophore clubs are also red-brown (in some specimens pale blue), the elevated rhinophoral sheaths are bluish-white, in some specimens with a red margin. There are some excellent pictures of this species as Nembrotha sp. 09 from Gangga Island, Indonesia. These specimens are possibly juvenile Nembrotha mullineri Gosliner & Behrens, 1997, as published on Mike Miller's Slug Site. It is one of a group of similarly coloured species which are still a bit of a puzzle. There may be a number of species, or just some which are very variable in colour. Let me quote Bill Rudman:" There still seems to be some work needed on these red-spotted nembrothids." It was originally posted at these websites as Nembrotha sp. G Genus: Bergh, 1877. For some genera, such as Trinchesia was the alphabet almost through. I had to change the distinguishing alphabetic character into a number. I have chosen 2-digit numbers, even though '01' looks a little bit stupid, and now is only the genus italic written. How to cite: Köhler, E. (2017), published 31 March 2017, Nembrotha sp. 07 Genus: Bergh, 1877 available from https://www.Philippine-Sea-Slugs.com/Nudibranchia/Doridina/Nembrotha_sp_07.htm |
