Asteronotus hepaticus is characterized by its reddish bown body with and numerous tubercles. The Sea Slug Forum lists it as a (possibly) colour morph of Asteronotus cespitosus (van Hasselt, 1824) .
Let me quote the description of Asteronotus hepaticus in IPN at page 173:
"This species differs from Asteronotus cespitosus by its reddish purple body color with occasional opaque white spots and more numerous tubercles."
