Anteaeolidiella cacaotica is usually characterized by a row of white patches down the dorsal midline, which vary in size, some specimens lack them. The background colour ranges from a dull uniform orange-brown to a pale translucent white. Its closely spaced translucent rhinophores and the oral tentacles are diffuse white-tipped. The laterally directed cerata are translucent greyish-pink, relatively short and fat, and have a white or pale apex, some specimens have subapical a diffuse orange and white patches.
Anteaeolidiella cacaotica is part of the "Anteaeolidiella indica complex" it was posted on 15 July 2011 at these websites as
Anteaeolidiella foulisi (Angas, 1864) [Aeolis] because this was the accepted name for all those species of the "Anteaeolidiella indica complex" and it was thought to have a circumtropical distrubution, until Carmona et al. (2013) stated "However, our study demonstrates that at least five distinct allopatric species constitute the Anteaeolidiella indica complex, which presents to a consistent biogeographic pattern." and
"...Therefore, we consider Aeolis foulisi as a junior synonym of Eolis cacaotica and transfer the latter to Anteaeolidiella."
The distrubution of Anteaeolidiella cacaotica is the Western Pacific Ocean from Japan to New Zealand, and the Eastern Indian Ocean.
Carmona et al. (2013) consider Anteaeolidiella indica (Bergh, 1888) as species inquirenda, a species of doubtful identity requiring further investigation.
