Aplysia nigrocincta is probably the smallest species of Aplysia in the Philippines, reaching a maximium length of about 6 cm. It's colour is very variable, mottled red-brown, green or black, the large parapodial flaps have a black and/or a whitish/cream edge.
This species was posted on 17 April 2003 at these websites as Aplysia sp. A  Genus: Linnaeus, 1767,
and changed on 31 March 2010 into Aplysia parvula  Mörch, 1863.
Golestani et al. (2019) restricted Aplysia parvula to the type location of the tropical waters of the Southern Caribbean (Virgin Islands and St Vincent) and Honduras, and split it into ten different species within 4 species complexes plus 2 undescribed species.
They resurrected Aplysia nigrocincta  von Martens, 1880 within the species complex #3, let me quote Golestani et al. (2019):
"The range of Aplysia nigrocincta has been confirmed to include the Indian and eestern Pacific Oceans, from East Africa (Mozambique) to Mauritius, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Vanuatu."
This species is part of the Aplysia elongata–nigrocincta species complex, for a correct identification of the species is a DNA-analysis needed.
